Who is Dean Santillan?
JuniorTennisAustralia.com content is produced mainly by Dean Santillan and his guests.
Dean is a 39 year old Parent, tennis coach and happily married man to his wife Harumi, they are currently residing in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast of Australia. Dean’s main roles in life are coaching tennis, traveling to tennis tournaments and homeschooling his son Akira DJ Santillan who wants to be a professional tennis player on the ATP circuit.
Dean was a tennis player in the past training to be a professional under the guidance of Trevor, Daphne & Charlie Fancutt along with other coaches. He reached a high level but still was not good enough to pursue a career in tennis dropping out totally and not touching a racket again until his son expressed interest in the sport. Only then did it dawn on him that tennis was what was missing all these years in his life.
Now back into 100% he has now decided to dedicate his life to educating juniors and parents of in and outs of tennis life, by providing a path that can used a guide to producing a tennis professional from the start go. His opinions will be mainly based on his own past and current experiences, on what it is needed to have a successful career in tennis not only as a player also as a business person.
He was born in South Africa in 1970 and moved to Australia in 1983 in fear of civil unrest in his birth country. He has also spent 10 years of his life in Japan working and coaching tennis to Japanese kids amongst other passions like programming, designing websites and network systems for companies like Microsoft. He started on the internet in 1998 opening up an internet start-up, working with Alan Margerison selling human resource software and search engine optimisation and seo submission websites.
